Winery Restoration

We have begun work on the restoration of the former stables of the Château, classified as a Historic Monument, whose condition was very degraded. They have been used as cellars for almost a century.

This restoration, which will take place throughout 2023, has been entrusted, under the scientific supervision of the Regional Department of Cultural Affairs of the Pays de la Loire, to companies recognized nationally for their high level of competence and their specialized know-how.

It concerns the recovery of the frame, the slate roof and the masonry, the change of the door frames and finally the insulation of the whole to reduce the carbon footprint of the air-conditioned building throughout the year for the needs of vinification and conservation of our wines.

These large-scale works are financially supported by the State through the DRAC of Pays de la Loire and, we hope, by the Pays de la Loire region as well as by the Maine et Loire department.

The photo you see shows the current state of the framework, the construction of which has been scientifically dated by dendrology between 1450 and 1460. The restoration site was entrusted to the Cruard company, which has worked on the most prestigious historical monuments. of France.

The first stage consists in resuming the triangulation of the trusses which were in the process of opening and pushing on the surrounding walls of the building, in changing or repairing the timbers in poor condition (sand plate, rafters, blocks and battens), then to set up a low triangulation by wiring, the original trusses being devoid of tie. Repairs will be carried out in a spirit of maximum conservation.
